Three day trip in Eversham - 2

Our three day trip in Eversham!

Monday, Day 1
On Monday the 28th of September we all arrived at 7:30 am to 8:00 am very nervous! We loaded our bags into the bottom of the bus, then got seats at the top. Kai ,Maguelone and Griet were the three teachers for this years trip ( last year it was Rinze) and all the 5th and 4th years too, we were 29 in all. When we arrived at round about 11:00 am, with no rush in the air just excitement, we checked in and gave the money to the person at the fron desk . Then they called our guide to come and get us , her name was Bente and was expecting us to be flemish so she tried her best to guide us in English.  I expect all the 4th years were really nervous as us 5th years had been to this same place but just on the other side in the Middle ages ! Serena and I missed some of the tour to help carry some bread for lunch but we dropped it halfway through. She first showed how to make tea and then she explained more about the prehistoric times scince we were going to live in the prehistoric times for three days and two nights. After she had given us a tour of our village she went of to have her own lunch and we then had to make ours, well not make up but help slice and cut that sort of thing. For lunch we had bread, cheese, ham, jams and butter it was ok . Then Bente came back to do activities with us we did cooking the dinner, wood chopping for the fire, we rid on a canoe, grinding flour for pancakes on the last day and last but not least making bread. Then we all sat down and ate our under cooked pork, bread, cheese, and these type of cooked grains. Bente said goodbye and since she didn’t sleep at the place where she works she went home to her modern home. Griet had a detective story on the Tolund man arranged for us , it was pretty scary in the dark. We all were in our sleeping bags in the barn where we were sleeping by 9:00 pm , some people read and some tried very hard not to talk with their friends but to go strait to sleep and not giggle.

Tuesday, Day 2
It was still very dark when we all got up, we needed our flashlights just to find our way to the bathroom! When it was light enough we all started chopping wood for the fire and getting dressed. Then Bente came while we were eating our breakfast ( it included the same as Mondays lunch ) she had a counting game that she plays with all the schools that come and the best record they‘ve had was 70 while we were still on 3 and 1. We did more activities the same as Mondays but instead of riding on the canoe we learnt how to spear throw just like the kids in those days . Lunch was the same as breakfast so we all sat down to eat , then Bente all of a sudden disapeared and griet said we could have some free time to do what ever we liked. Then Bente reappeared and told us to sit around the oak tree where she will explain something to us. She explained that in those times they had sacrificial ceremoney’s where they did acts and then sacrificied something and she also said that we were going to have a ceremony as well. At the beginning of the ceremony we had to run around the village screaming to chase away the bad spirits in the air so we were very loud and we all went nuts. First there was a story followed by a special trial all acted out by Emil and Griet it was very well done. The ceremony was great we all did our acts and it was very funny to see who listened to Griet about what they did to people when sacrificed. After that it was really dark, we all went to sit by the campfire we sang songs and ate a speacial cookie followed by a drink. Then at 9 :00 pm once again we were all in bed!

Wednesday, The final day
We all were sad but excited to go back home. For the last day all we did was make pancakes and play pre–olympic prehistoric games set up by Bente then we all went home by bus.
