AYDO Panel Discussion Evening in Savoorke
The AYDO group, an initiative of the Middle School students, teachers and alumni, organized a successful discussion in a panel format in ‘Savoorke’. They were pleasant surprised to witness the amount of students and parents who had decided to swap their normal Friday evening dinner for the buffet style dinner prepared by them, and join them for a well organized, constructive and stimulating get-together.
The topic of the evening centered around the idea of the impact an individual can have on his or her direct surroundings. After three of the Middle School students, Vincent Laurent, Thomas Elliot and Victor U, opened the evening by presenting three individuals they considered of having an impact on their direct surroundings and sometimes even had an enormous effect on the way people would view the world from then onwards.
This opened the floor for the two guest speakers of this evening, Ingrid De Decker of the Jane Goodall Institute located in Antwerp, and Ilke Pedersen of the Sunbeam organzation. Both of them were passionate about the possibilities and opportunities people of all ages have in this day and age in order to have a direct impact on the day-to-day life and therefore indirectly on our unknown future.
The evening proceeded in a smooth and well-moderated way, giving a variety of people the opportunity to express their views, wishes, dreams, but also their concerns and opinions about the current obstacles blocking a sustainable development. By sharing their experiences and solutions, we all left the ‘Parent Trap Café’ slightly less trapped. Worth pursueing.
