IBO MYP
The International Baccalaureate Middle Year Program
Children from age 11 continue their education at the Montessori school as Middle School Students following the IB Middle Years Program (MYP).The school is currently in the process of moving from the Candidate Status to the full fling Authorized Status.
The group consists of a group of determined and focused teenagers. Together with their home teacher and respective specialists, they are working on the prestigious and truly multi-directional and international-minded IB curriculum. Due to individualized relationships with their teachers, they feel empowered and responsible for their future. Combining the highly compatible Montessori approach to
learning with the over 35 years experienced IB program, the students are almost non-stop faced with challenging projects to help them develop their intellect, autonomy and sense of responsibility. The variety of activities is determined by the demands and possibilities offered by their direct and indirect
surroundings. The real adult society is their playground. They become ready to join and participate in the adult world.
In order to be able to contribute to society, a pro-active position is a required. Therefore the students are coached to become true producers in all aspects of life. The practice varies from organizing car-washes, taking care of catering during events such as Christmas and Spring Markets, creating and producing theatre plays, handling and selling organic produce, and organize and execute extensive outings and trips.Living in ‘The Heart of Europe’, provides the students with an ongoing direct access the policymaking processes of the European Commission. Initiating and actively being involved in creating ‘A Platform for Youth Participation’, the students obtain a thorough understanding of the functioning of EU and the relationship with the member states.
By providing the students with an all-inclusive approach to learning, the adolescents experience the sense of ownership and motivation. With their positive attitude to personal development and learning they will become in control of their life and will have a contributing impact on the future!
We all know difficult teenagers, tending to see life from the wild side Why is that?Traditionally we believe they need a large group of peers, a large school with lots of opportunities. We challenge this hypothesis. Teenagers are like butterflies coming out of their cocoon. They are easily
influenced and being accepted is of great importance. Big schools offer big and various “opportunities”. Together with wanting to belong, this can lead them astray.
We offer over and above the IB curriculum, reciprocal interaction with adults, help towards feeling good and strong, making the right decisions and consequently becoming successful individuals in life.
They leave the school as responsible and mature adolescents.
