Children’s Houses visits to ‘La Cabriole’ in Forville
‘Professional from the beginning to the end’.
This was the comment of all teachers of the eight Children’s Houses that paid a visit to ‘La Cabriole’.
For one day the children entered the Northern American continent like it was three hundred years ago.
The way all aspects of that era were represented and displayed appealed a lot to most, if not all children.
Riding a pony or sitting in a carriage wearing a cowboy hat and scarf is always a lot of fun.
But also sitting in a teepee listening to stories explaining how the native americans took care of their babies kept their interest.
The more adventurous ones could go through a manmade tunnel and end up in a sandy area where they could search with a pan for gold.
Someone never knows. Gold in Belgium.
Also the lasso skills were not forgotten. Sitting on a wooden horse the children could aim at large horns attached to a wall.
Of course a variety of small farm animals were present as well, and could be enjoyed by the children.
Seeing the children coming off the bus, tired but smiling with the left overs of the face paint still on, told the story of the day in it’s own way.
Around this theme the different groups created several activites varying from making and painting cardboard totempoles, creating head dresses with feathers and all, making miniature teepees and building a village, making your own dream catchers and many other stories, songs and pictures were shared and spoken about.
Thanks to Jessica, who is an enthousiastic horse rider herself, the Tervuren group even ventured out to the local horse riding place in Moorsel.
A lot of long lasting impressions were made.
