15th Anniversary Charity Concert

15th Anniversary Charity Concert

17 November 2008

Dear Parents,

It is so unfortunate that we needed to cancel our beautiful 15th Anniversary – Charity Concert. As events evolved Friday night, it became apparent that our celebration could not go ahead at Cinquantenaire.

Due to the change of location in the celebration of King Albert’s 15 years of reign, the Cinquantenaire Square was used Saturday night for Live Concerts and a VIP Party. Consequently our guests could not have found parking anywhere and the excessive noise would have disturbed our festivities.

We hope we reached you all by means of our phone-chains and apologise for the inconvenience.

During the course of Saturday, the musicians indicated that they would want to play anyway and would we still have an audience? The Hippodrome in Sterrebeek was so kind to allow us to take over their restaurant, “Etcetera”, for an impromptu concert. The students of the Middle School, their parents, recent graduates and school staff were treated to an informal show. The evening proved to be a very good “plaster on the wound” for all those who had put a lot of time and effort into this event.

‘Feniks’ Taiko was very good at beating the bad spirits away and to help us all to become ‘in tune’ again. Vincent Siemers did his first live concert and was very relaxed and confident. Finally, Jean Bosco Safari inspired us all to continue. His song “Wake up and Dream” reinforced our ideas on charity work and he pushed us on again!

At this point in time we are not clear if the complete 15th Anniversary Concert as was planned can be put together again. However, the Middle School children will definitely present their charity projects on another occasion and the raffle will be held at the Christmas Craft evening on December 17. We hope to see you and your children then!

Kind regards,
Annie R. Hoekstra – de Roos
